Dr. Kimberley Benton (she/her/hers) is the Owner and Director of Oak City Psychology and a Licensed Psychologist in the state of North Carolina. Her primary specialties are the treatment of people who struggle with eating disorders and body image concerns and people healing from trauma. Dr. Benton also has extensive training and experience in working with the LGBT+ community (particularly individuals who are transitioning), and with people of all genders in the areas of pregnancy, parenting and pregnancy/child loss.
Dr. Benton earned her Master of Arts and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University (formerly Georgia School of Professional Psychology). She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Dr. Benton was a Licensed Psychologist in Georgia for 6 years before returning to North Carolina. She has spoken at several events regarding the intersection of eating disorder diagnoses and people who identify as LGBTQ+. She is passionate about educating other clinicians about these two areas.
Dr. Benton is a North Carolina native. She lives in Wake Forest with her husband, two children, and three dogs. Dr. Benton enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, and all things crafty.
